This whole self-quarantine has definitely tested my patience, but with each week that goes by, I am growing more creative with how I engage with my kids and most importantly my husband. At the beginning of the year, one of our goals for our marriage was to have more date nights. Last year, with our busy schedules, move and adjusting to our new life with two kids; we rarely dated each other. So this year, we wanted to be very intentional and make sure we carve out time for us to have more time together. But this social distancing and self-quarantine time have definitely placed a shift on our normal “date night” out plans. We have to now get more creative and find new ways to love each other at home. So I wanted to share six date night ideas, that don’t include a typical Netflix and chill movie night.

Make a drink and relax in a different space
Maybe you can lay under the stars in your back yard, or make a comfy pallet on your porch or patio. If the weather is nice and you have an outdoor space; create a comfortable area to relax, light some candles, have a drink, and get cozy.

Get dressed up and Have dinner
It is so easy to live in sweats during this time. But last night, Ernest and I got dressed up and had a candlelit dinner in our dining room; it was amazing. We ordered take-out from one of our favorite local steak restaurants and it felt like we were out on the town, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Paint and drink
I can’t wait to do this activity. I am going to order The Amazing Paint Party Paint kits. What I love about these kits is that they allow you to paint some of your favorite celebrity icons! The kits come with everything you need so this would make for a great date night activity. Once the kids are put to bed, grab a drink, turn up some good music and get creative!

Spa Night
What better way to start the nightcap than a spa date with your mate. You can give each other a soothing facial and then follow up with a massage. We all know where the story may end haha but this is a relaxing and great way to cater to your significant other.

Trivia Night
We all think we know our spouse like the back of our hand, but what if that was put to the test. I found this website that challenges you to see how much you know your partner. This would be a fun thing to do after dinner. I found two websites Here and Here that lists some pretty good questions. You can make it a competition and see who scores the highest!

Learn a new dance together
With all of the new Tik Tok dances, this shouldn’t be hard to do, or you can take it old school and find a line dance routine on Youtube. I think this is a fun way to let loose and practice teamwork! And it can be a fun workout if you find the perfect routine!!
